The Algae4IBD General Assembly recently took place at the Università degli Studi Federico II in Naples, hosted by Prof. Antonio Marzocchella.

In this historical institution (celebrating its 800th anniversary this year) and under the coordination of Dr. Dorit Avni from MIGAL Research Center, the project partners convened to share updates and outcomes.

Over two intensive days, nearly 40 experts engaged in many scientific and technical discussions.
With over 120 prescreened bioactivities from micro and macro algal extracts, promising candidates exhibiting potent anti-inflammatory properties have been identified for upcoming in-vivo trials.
The next steps of the Algae4IBD project are aiming at developing food prototypes targeting Inflammatory Bowel Diseases within 24 months while in parallel laying the foundation for potential new pharmaceutical compounds.

Looking forward to the coming developments.
