Let’s build an EU seaweed-based competitive industry!

Franck Hennequart and Jeremy Brebion are actively participating to the first annual review meeting of the SeaMark project in Aarhus, Denmark this week.

Quick reminder for those who may not know Seamark: the project, gathering 25 partners in a consortium led by Ocean Rainforest, aims at exploiting the full spectrum of products derived from cultivated brown and green seaweeds on an unprecedented scale — from medicine to cosmetics, human food, and animal feed.

Benefiting from a €9 million grant from Horizon Europe, SeaMark is planning the installation of a pilot biorefinery plant for cultivated seaweed, sustainably producing multiple high value functional ingredients for various industries.

The Algaia Innovation team is thrilled to move such an ambitious project forward and look forward to the next steps.
