Ever heard of Deep Eutectic Solvents?
Well, you may want a quick update today as this new solvent class is about to change the way compounds are extracted from biomass. In this case, it is seaweed biomass we are talking about, of course!
And we are super proud to participate to the SeaSolv project funded by NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) to develop a new generation of alginates with specific composition and applications thanks to the nature of Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES).
This project is fully in line with the biorefinery strategy Algaia is rolling out from day 1 and we are eager to work with Wageningen University & Research, Hortimare, Kelpblue and Aveira University to uncover new nutrients and/or actives.
