{"id":8401,"date":"2026-03-12T11:55:51","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T10:55:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.algaia.com\/?p=8401"},"modified":"2026-03-12T11:55:52","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T10:55:52","slug":"great-energy-at-algae-for-health-and-food-summit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.algaia.com\/en\/index.php\/2026\/03\/12\/great-energy-at-algae-for-health-and-food-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Great energy at Algae for Health and Food Summit!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; column_structure=&#8221;3_5,2_5&#8243; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_column _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; type=&#8221;3_5&#8243; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; theme_builder_area=&#8221;post_content&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>This inspiring event took place alongside the final consortium meeting of the <a href=\"https:\/\/algae4ibd.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Algae4IBD<\/a> EU project, where Marine Dehail, Benoit Queguineur and Franck Hennequart actively contributed.<\/p>\n<p>Benoit Queguineur presented promising work on the upscaling of algal extract prototypes for IBD treatment, highlighting Algaia\u2019s advances in algal-based ingredients for supplements.\u00a0 And yes\u2026 he even brought some some samples to test IBD-active algae extracts in gummies that have been tested by a panel of over 80 people, alongside pesto, brownies, chocolate and butter prototypes developed by project partners, in particular Teagasc Food Research Center !<\/p>\n<p>We were also proud to contribute with a notable panel intervention by Franck Hennequart on \u201cGaps and opportunities to bring algae to the market\u201d alongside Dr. Urd Grandorf Bak from Ocean Rainforest, Dr. Mariana Carneiro from Necton, Dr. Jeroen van Bergenhenegouwen from Danone Global Research &amp; Innovation and Dr. Adrian Macleod from Atlantic Mariculture.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A key takeaway:<\/strong> the need for stronger collaboration to consolidate the European microalgae and seaweed industry and address the impact of evolving Novel Food regulations.<\/p>\n<p>Participants came from across Europe, the US and Asia, including some colleagues from JRS J.
